This type of thing is ok for the non artistic, but anything that uses a few premade templates is at serious risk of looking like a cookie cutter variation of other people's designs. Nothing beats Flash and Photoshop for making this type of thing if you have the know how. These sort of remind me of something you could make with the free software that comes with a new $40 printer or scanner.

I think you have to be careful about putting personally identifiable info on the web. However, I have pictures of myself in various places online.

Here is a picture of my wife and me at the library Christmas party. Since my wife is a photographer and I have about two years worth of multimedia editing classes under my belt, flicker is very familiar to me.
Flickr is helpful if you have a website, but you don't want to host your photos or movie files locally. There are many reasons for deciding not to host them locally, one of them is being charged for internet traffic by your ISP. I currently don't host a personal website, but my wife prefers Picasa for organizing her photos. She mainly uses it for showing clients their photos before having them printed and organizing them.

What do you like about RSS and newsreaders?
They are a quick an easy way to scan through articles or postings in a blog without having to wait for the site to load. I actually use Live Bookmarks in Firefox. I just bookmark the feed and the RSS posted topics load as sub menus under the bookmarks menu, If there is something new or interesting, just select that menu item and Firefox directs the browser to that post. The best part is, no logging into a particular site, or installing special toolbars or plug-ins to make it work.
